Published on June 6, 2024, the first issue of the Journal Desktop Application (JDA) for Volume 3, Number 1, presents a collection of scholarly articles focused on the design, development, and implementation of desktop-based information systems to address various administrative and operational challenges in Pidie Regency and surrounding areas in Aceh, Indonesia. This edition emphasizes the role of tailored software solutions in enhancing data management and operational efficiency across diverse sectors. One study explores the development of an employee data information system for Peukan Baro District, aimed at streamlining human resource records. Another article discusses the implementation of a potential information system to improve data collection efficiency at the Central Statistics Agency of Pidie Regency, focusing on optimizing statistical processes. The issue also includes research on the design and implementation of a laboratory equipment information system at a vocational high school in Sigli, facilitating better management of educational resources. Additionally, a paper details the development of a water bill arrears information system using Microsoft Access and Visual Basic 6.0 for a local water utility company, enhancing billing and payment tracking. Lastly, the design of an information system for collecting poor household data in Glumpang Tiga Subdistrict is presented, supporting targeted welfare initiatives with accurate data. Collectively, these works highlight the significant impact of desktop applications in improving administrative processes and service delivery, making this issue a vital resource for researchers and practitioners in desktop application development.
